  Transport International set up production line for surgical masks to strengthen the protection of staff members’ health

Transport International Holdings Limited (“TIH”) (Stock Code:0062) announced that it has invested in setting up a production line for surgical masks in Hong Kong, with the first batch expected to be produced in April. It hopes that this can further protect the health of staff members.

The production line will be set up in Tuen Mun and all masks are manufactured locally. TIH is entrusting a professional team to install a cleanroom which meets ISO Class 8 under ISO 14644-1. The self-produced 3-layer surgical masks use Melt Blown Polypropylene (MBPP) as the filter layers, which meet standard Level 1 of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Since the Group has more than 13,000 staff members, the daily demand for masks is very high. In order to protect the health of staff members and passengers, the Group is setting up a mask production line for employees.

TIH’s wholly-owned subsidiaries, KMB and LWB adopt multiple enhancement measures to step up protection for passengers and staff members
  1. Being Hong Kong’s first franchised bus companies to adopt Nano-Photocatalyst technology to medically disinfect the compartments;
  2. Installing hand sanitiser gel in compartments and installing alcohol-based hand-rub dispensers at the queuing areas of bus-bus interchanges and bus termini for passengers and frontline staff members to disinfect their hands anytime;
  3. Adding disinfection floor mats at the boarding position and regularly disinfecting with bleach and antiseptic solution;
  4. Enhancing cleaning of the compartment with bleach and antiseptic solution;
  5. Enhancing cleaning of the air-conditioner filter; and
  6. Enhancing announcements on the bus broadcasting system to remind passengers to maintain personal hygiene; “Step Up Cleaning Fight against the Coronavirus” is shown on the LED route display screen.
