Overview - Mainland Transport Operations Division
In response to increasing demand for Mainland public transport services, the Group has set up joint ventures to operate public bus, taxi and car rental services. The Group's Mainland operations cover two major cities, Beijing and Shenzhen, through joint venture companies.
Beijing Beiqi Kowloon
Taxi Company Limited ("BBKT"), established in Beijing in 2003, was the first Sino-foreign joint stock taxi and car rental company to operate in China Mainland. The Group has invested RMB80 million (HK$75.5 million), representing an interest of 31.38%, in BBKT. The shareholders of BBKT comprise KMB (Beijing) Taxi Investment Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transport International Holdings Limited, Beijing Beiqi Municipal Taxi Group Company Limited, Beijing Bashi Company Limited, and two other Mainland investors. BBKT has a fleet of 4,346 vehicles.
Shenzhen Bus Group
Company Limited ("SBG"), which commenced operations in January 2005, is a Sino-foreign joint stock company formed by a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Group and four other Mainland investors. The Group has invested RMB387 million (HK$364 million), representing a 35% stake, in SBG. SBG operates public bus services in Shenzhen with 4,951 vehicles serving 222 routes.
